Upon reaching the top stair, Thomas could see three doorways with no doors. There was the empty guest room
with his backpack on the bed, the bathroom, and Rebecca's bedroom. Thomas went to Rebecca's doorway.
'Hi Rebecca, your parents suggested I come up here while they get dinner ready,' Thomas nervously announced.
Rebecca was sitting at her desk looking through her mail. Turning towards Thomas, she responded.
'Oh, hi Thomas. I'm just looking through old letters from high school friends. I'm sorry to have left you
downstairs with my folks. Here, you can sit on my bed as I finish reading these letters. How do you like my bedroom? Most
of my posters are back in my college apartment,' Rebecca explained with a sigh.
'What are you studying at college?' Thomas asked.
To which Rebecca replied, 'I go to L'ecole d'art, where I learn and teach art, intellectual property law,
and selling artwork animations to video game creators. I also write story ideas for role-playing video games based on historical
developments.'
'That is neat. You have a neat room. Did you live here when you were in high school?' he asked.
'Well, not really. I spent most of my time with my boyfriend, Frank. Here is a picture of us at the senior
prom.'
Looking at the picture, Thomas quickly noticed the scar on Frank's face.
'What happened to him?' he asked.
'Oh, the scar? We were playing around in the woods and he got tangled up in fencing. He bled pretty badly,
but it wasn't life threatening,' Rebecca answered.
Thomas thought Frank looked friendly. Though the scar was unpleasant, his smile made wrinkles around the
eyes, and the eyes seemed to sparkle.
'He looks like a nice guy, is he friendly?' Thomas asked.
'Oh sure, he's very sweet,' Rebecca smiled. 'Do you have a girlfriend, Thomas?' she asked with a grin.
